Grade 4

Fourth graders will have the opportunity to play a band or string instrument. We will continue to play the recorder, learning several new notes. We will continue to sing a variety of songs, learn music theory, play instruments, compose music using the pentatonic scale, learn basic square dance steps, and listen to a variety of music. Two musical forms: theme and variations and rondo will be emphasized. We will learn the history of our National Anthem. The students will be required to memorize the first verse.

The Star-Spangled  Banner
Students have been learning  the words to our National Anthem.

Oh, say can you see by the dawn's early light  what so proudly we hailed  at the  twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes  and bright stars through the perilous fight o'er the ramparts we watched were so gallantly streaming.
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air gave proof through the night that our flag was still there.
Oh say does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
